The fire road slog soon forgotten as you turn left into what feels like scene from The Hobbit but with a great trail running through it. Then out onto the exposed side of the mountain where tyres spend the next mile or so slapping into rocks followed by a high speed descent in another dense forest where speed comes easily and so do the thrills. And then you hit the first new section and don't get me wrong its fun but this style of trail just doesn't fit with rest of whats there, it felt really out of place.
The second new section works better, maybe because you know it replaces a very boring fire road although I was still left feeling it didn't fit with the strong identity of the place.
Later we went over to the Marin trail just to ride the final descent and they've put a similar bit of trail in at bottom of the final descent and it seems to work really well there.
I know with time it'll 'wear in' to some extent but i can't see it'll blend in.
