I got the OE bagged cranks a few weeks ago for a build. I can't remember them coming with pedal washers, or would I have lost them? Or are they just not needed or not included?
My NX cranks came with them.
Should I fit some to the SLX cranks? (Time MX4 pedals).

I think that's a sram thing... for some reason...
Pedal washers only really required where you have spanner flats on the pedal spindle that face the crank - as Time pedals generally have a round spindle, not really needed.

I find that adding washer help to reduce damage and stops the pedal spindle 'sticking' to the cranks.

I've had washers, I've had no washers (usually). Never had a stuck pedal. I do grease the threads though
I don't think modern Shimano cranks come with them, some older ones did.
I think I asked this a while back because a set of Octalink cranks (that use a cartridge bb) came with some washers. I was told they were bb washers not for pedals!
Once you've had a pedal you can't get off a crank arm you'll always use pedal washers...
I fit them to all of mine after having to cut a pedal out of a mates crank 20 years ago.... A few quid on ebay for a box of 20, why wouldn't you use them?

Why would a washer make a difference? Its the threads that seize from a lack of your favourite assembly lube and over tightening
Ive never had a stuck pedal on anything i assemble. Most of the pedals i have had have no washers anyway. Copaslip for the win.

Because I've built or repaired literally thousands of bikes and I've never had a pedal get stuck, or had to cut one off.
Not one that was caused by the lack of a tiny washer anyway.

That sounds mad.
So I tightened by feel as I have been doing for 35 years with Time Atac pedals.
And then I checked and it was way under 10nm. No chance I am going anywhere near even 10nm, it would be a bugger to take off. I never had a loose pedal. Just luck?
pedals self tighten. I do them up to way under 35nm, never had one come loose. there is no force to loosen themunless the bearings seize. 10 nm sounds about right to me but I don't use a torque wrench.

Likewise, you just get a feel for it.
Apart from the carbon bars I've just fitted, but even using a torque wrench I knew it was thereabouts to where I would have gone anyway, so didn't really need to bother
