Scrap the video until tomorrow, just spent half an hour editing it for it to get lost whilst saving, I'll do it again tomorrow night!

Thepodge, that was me if the flash went I took the shot, it may have been blurred or something hence it didn't make the cut. Sorry. Maybe next time!
Ref Mrs Podge, it matters not she was walking, she always had a smile that's hardcore enough in those conditions!

I evidently need some pads for walking. Fell over in the garage when I got home cos my feet were still numb, battered my leg and am walking with a limp today...

Just to clarify, podge's wife isn't the fella gurning at the camera, she's the one smiling behind him. Probably laughing at podges seated descending technique I reckon...

No, but there's a ford at the bottom with a slippery, slightly steppy exit and there was some bloke sat there pointing cameras at people. But clearly you're hardcore enough to come up and ride up them, since they're so not steep, so how about it? Slap-up cake and coffee fest at Rosie's in Hayfield says you can't do it. Winner buys... 😉

Oh, and nice one of me on the steps too. Normally I crash instantly at the sight of a camera, so a bit of a result really - mind you I'd already splatted further back, ooops... 😐

Entry is free, there'll be some Peak Park by-law forbidding dog-bating as a public spectacle or something. I know those steps are rideable going up, and I figure that RoCkeTdOG with his random, jumbled characters should make mincemeat of it, seeing as they're apparently not very steep at all... So come on dOGgY, I'm sure you're not just one of those people who pokes fun at others' riding ability from the safety of your keyboard but won't put your cake money where you mouth is, erm, right? 🙂

The steps are rideable going down if you haven't got a traffic jam in front of you. Going up they're a proper challenge, I've got about 2/3rds of the way up. One day I'll clean them.

It looks so dry in your photos! We got soaked and frozen over in Mac Forest yesterday 🙁

I hope I can make it along to one of rides again before too long 🙂

EDIT: These steps, presumably? http://www.streetmap.co.uk/map.srf?x=403535&y=389452&z=120&sv=403535,389452&st=4&ar=y&mapp=map.srf&searchp=ids.srf&dn=725&ax=403535&ay=389452&lm=0

Are they all the podge's wife?

Sorry it was a simple question about the steps, the ones visible don't look difficult, sorry for not being able to see around the corner of a photograph. Blimey there are some touchy souls on here

Id love to take up the challenge, but i think I'd have difficulty getting past the massive chip you all seem to be carrying and if i laughed at your shoes you'd probably cry and I'd feel bad

It was dry for about the first 30 mintues, which is when people took photos. Then it pissed it down for three hours... 😀

The steps you can see are actually steeper than they look fwiw. I note that you're a bottler then, all mouth and no climbing trousers...or are you scared of cake? 😉

Yeah, but you have to clean the steps on Middle Moor going up or you're buying - blue-walled tyres not allowed cost they're cheating.Tempted? Carrot cake or stick... 😛

rocketdog. it wasn't a simple comment was it? it was a snide remark about peoples riding ability.

I don't have a chip on my shoulder but I do have a dislike of people bad mouthing others for no good reason.

Well, I don't really care where it was snide or not, I just scented a god-given opportunity to score free cake and I'd appreciate it if folk could keep their petty squabbles out of it. Let's face facts:

1. There is a huge chasm just below those steps which people are keeping quiet about.

2. rOcKetDOg is squirming like a kitten on a barbecue at the prospect of failing dismally to ride up them.

3. Er, yeah.

So, can we just forget about the handbags and focus on the important business in hand please?

Podge it wasn't a snide remark at all, it was just a light hearted question, then you ruined it with your knee jerk name calling, i could reciprocate but i like to think I'm on above the juvenile level so i'll leave it there

good job they are wearing pads, those steps look like a dangerous walk
No part of that forms a question, it clearly a malicious / derogatory remark.

As for being above the juvenile level, I'm sure many would agree poking fun at people is very juvenile, so no, you're not above it at all.

it clearly a malicious

Having been on STW for many years, I can't see that rocketdog has ever said a malicious thing about any rider ever on STW, imo.

I do think that's a lovely photo of mrs. podge riding through the stream though. Again that doesn't show how steep, rocky and slippery the descent was into the stream.

Right, enough of all this now. I don't want the pootles to be tarred with the brush of argument and anger. Whether rd intended to cause offence I don't know, but offence was taken and that's unfortunate. Let's call it a misunderstanding, accept that, apologise as appropriate, get over it on both sides and walk away. The ride was ace, and that's the memory I want of it.
The internet is rife for misinterpretation, but that doesn't excuse exacerbating it, plus I'd like to think we're all above that. That said, a cake challenge sounds fun.
Now, let's all just move on, enjoy our bikes and look forward to the next ride eh?
Video coming up at some point!

what Pook said.. ^^

and anyway... its not about whose fastest... jumps highest.. or rides the most technical terrain..

its about who has the biggest smile on their face afterwards 🙂

Oh and thanks to MartynS who held open the gate of the last descent for nearly 30 riders to mince down in the chilly wind and rain.

Top video, looks ace despite the weather.

Which one is that last trail, from about 3min 30secs onwards? If anyone could point me in the general direction I would be grateful.

I'm only just starting to explore the Peak District, I recognised Middle Moor but not much else, though everything always seems to look different on video anyway to me.

Edit- on the Peaks June video, I meant.
