I was reading an old article from a rival(boo-hiss) magazine about Nick Craig. He mentioned a descent called the "White lady" somewhere in the Peaks. (near Hayfield I think)
I had a look on t'internet for it, but drew a blank. 🙁
Can anyone point me in the right direction? (Marked on a map would be great.)
Thanks
pie.
Never heard of it - Sorry.
What sort of description did he give?
Just that it was his favourite descent. He also mentioned Cracken Edge, which may (or may not) be somewhere near it.

Could it be the trail that goes around Highgate Head?

It's not the Coldwell Clough descent is it?
I seem to vaguely remember something about a white stone near the bottom that had some kind of myth attached to it.
Piemann, it refers to a marker post in the shape of a Lady, made in white stone.
The trail may or may not be 100% legal... 😉
Its not Coldewell clough, although it goes very near, so could be.
Threads like this make me yearn for good weather and to go exploring.
In the vid he mentions the pennine bridleway and the campsite.
I think its the one that climbs up Highgate head, then descends NNW skirting above the campsite, although I could be totally wrong, and the Vid may have nothing to do with the White Lady.
