Ok here it is.
Bought a pair of brake on the classified a good few month back. nvery though about checking them.
It appear that both brakes are hope number 3 caliper (so 180 front and 160 rear) with a postmount to IS mount.
Problem is it comes with three disks 160, 160 and 200. Plus my fork is IS.
So front brake is non usable.
Should I
Buy a +20 IS to IS mount (200 front sound way overkill for my skills)?
Buy a 180 disk (they ain't cheap bugger).
Try to swap them (they are mono minis) for a pair of 185 165 hope mini (that would be perfect but I can't see anyone willing to do that).
Or use one of my 185 hope mini spare disk. I have try it and the wheel does spin, but you can hear a little rattle. But surely grinding the "waves" out of the disk on a mm or two should solve the problem.
Why oh why did hope change from 185/165 to 180/160...
Do what? 'they aren't cheap' ...You cheap skate?
£12 for a 180mm brake disc
Then sell one of you 160mm discs for most of that cost.
zippy this is not a hope disk is it?
Plus once you add postage to france :'(
and why does that matter?
for the most part brake disc are brake disc (same thickness), unless you feel the 'need' a match pair
I don't feel the need but I am not sure using something that is not from the manufacturer is a good idea (look for example at SSC pads).
they why would 'generic' part companies exist?
We'd all be buying original part for our kit and be paying a fortune 🙄
Surely you don't expect to only buy 'hope' pads for them???? (opps not a good example, re-reading your post)
but I have to admit they are dead cheap 😀
blast an wtd ad in the classifieds for a "+20 IS to IS mount", someone will have one sitting around and sell it you cheap.
Why oh why did hope change from 185/165 to 180/160...
Dunno the history but imagine it was because everyone else went that way...
