I'm off on my holidays down to Cornwall in a couple of weeks and I've got permission to take the bike, as there's far less faffing involved with roadie'ing I thought I'd take that one.

What's it like down there for road riding, any good loops that can be recommended?

Cornwall, during the school holidays, on a road bike!!

You'll either spend the time track standing behind cars jamming the place up or mown down by psycho tourist hating locals in un-roadworthy old Sierras*

Just enjoy time with the wife & kids, they will have grown up before you know it & then they won't want to go on holiday with you anyway ๐Ÿ˜‰

*Not every Cornish person hates tourists (just most :p )

Hire a bike and do the camel trail with family.

I've stayed in Constantine Bay before, taken road bike. Early enough in the morning is dead quiet along the coastal roads. Lovely, bear in mind it's pretty up/down/up/down/up/down!

I'll second the Camel trail with family, but gets busy.

Camel trail is brilliant for the family, there is also the vinyard along there (Camel Valley) There are lots of ups and downs, if you cross the Camel trail to the Rock side Port Quin and Port Isaac are very pretty and tough/good climbing challenges (25% rings a bell)

I'll be doing the camel trail too with the kids at some point.

I was thinking more early morning / late evening kinda riding.

Took the MTB last time and dos a bit over the headland down to Padstow and also along the camel trail to Cardinham Woods for a couple of laps and then back again, so fancied something different as it's not that inspiring to be honest.

Was there last week and thought how unsafe it was for road riding. Blind bends everywhere and you are pretty much walled in. I'd look for mtb trails, or do camel with family. I holiday with my old old bike- a rigid steel GT on semi slicks.
At least you can do a mix of stuff.

Summer hols in the SW is one of the reasons I bought the road bike. Couple of hours early or late and that's my fix. Did Tintagel and down to Padstow in 2012 and didn't have any issues. And past couple of years on the south coast not too far from St Mawes, NCN routes and some great exploring to be done. The short but very sharp hills are a joy! ๐Ÿ˜‰
