I've decided to go for some Middleburn square tapers for my RC405 build and wanted to know what axle length is best to go for?

The RC405 manual talks about the RC305/RC405 and RC506 all in one sentence and mentions axle size 113/118! I'm assuming it's 118 for the wider RC405 and 113 for the RC305?

Also, is it better to go for CD chainrings or 4 bolt? And what's the maximum number of teeth the frame can take on the outer ring?

The chainset determines the axle length, not the frame though if there are clearance issues, you may have to use a wider one than ideal but that may cause chainline issues.

I'd go for 4 bolt as it's now the standard

Thanks clubber, I did think the chainset was the key, but i'm sure I read somewhere of clearance issues on the Pace. I'll order a 113 anyway as that's what Middleburn recommend.

I ran a 113 on a 303 and a 305 if that helps.

I think the reason that sometimes the 118 is recommended is that on some 73mm shelled frames the crank clearance to the shell edge is very limited with a 113 axle.
