Had these forks about 7 years and have been great but the bottom section that holds the break caliper has broken off leaving just one eye to bolt the break on to. I'll be interested if any one else has had the a similar problem.

No not me, but Fork English might fix them for you. Do a search on here.

Oh, and it's 'brake'.
