Just wondering if one of these p7 thingies from dealextreme is going to be too powerful for road use- potentially dazzling drivers? Or will it be fine/ fine on low setting?

Fine on the low setting, I used a p7 torch last year for road riding and usually kept it on the low or medium mode.

If you're buying a light specifically for road use then get something more suited like the B&M Ixon IQ. It has a shaped beam to light the road better without dazzling other people.

If you're using it for off-road as well then a P7 should be fine as long as you have it on full power into people's faces.

Depends what sort of roads you ride on, but its nice to have the extra power for back roads/lanes where there can be dodgy potholes which you want to avoid hitting.

I use an Airlight P7 for commuting - just have it pointing down a little. Low power seems to be bright enough to make me seen ๐Ÿ™‚
