[Closed] Organising a charity 24 hour ride

So my friend is terminally ill. I want to do something in her memory and to raise money for the hospice where she is spending her final days to get some good out of this awful situation.

I have a rough plan on what I would like to do.

I would like to organise a 24 hour ride where we can complete laps of Cannock Chase as a team relay style taking it in turns to complete laps in groups of maybe 2 or 3.

I would probably set up some sort of camp at the tackaroo campsite as a pit stop food area / sleep area.

Plan is to get a group of maybe 10 - 20 friends to participate and we can run laps of different trails depending on abilities all returning to the campsite to switch riders.

It wouldn't be open to the public to participate plan is to keep it to friends so I don't think I would need to inform anybody about this taking place?

So I just wondered if anybody has any advice on doing this sort of thing? Can anybody see any issues with my plans? Does it sound like a good idea?

never organised anything like this but it certainly sounds like a good plan

What you have to do I have no idea but the hive mind will inform you

Best of luck with and sorry for your situation

In general no harm will come of having a chat with the the fc trails people and the campsite, they might even chip in some cash or something to help you out and avoid any awkward 11pm conversations in the camp site.

Matt Williams from Run and Ride may be able to offer advice with this as he has arranged many MTB races and events on the chase.

Good luck - sounds like it should be good.
I've thought of doing something similar, but never got round to it.

Might be worth having a chat with the Chase Trails guys too. Also don't forget Takeroo has no toilets - so you'll need to provide some (unless you have a mate with a decent camper that has one).
