I'm trying to get away from backpacks and bumbags for quick light rides out this Summer. I know that there are bottle cage solutions for the Orange Five with side loading ones and zip ties. Can you send me pictures or a link to the cage you bought?

Or any other solutions really much welcomed.

On a 2018 XL Five here, and I've got SKS Anywhere adaptors on the top tube, with a 750ml Camelbak Podium bottle inside the front triangle. This is with a plastic Zefal cage which I have modified as I had to have the bosses further apart not foul on the seat tube brace. Also, this wouldn't work with a piggy back shock. I have seen people using a smaller bottle in a side load cage in a more traditional place on the downtube in front of the forward shock mount.

Not a solution to the OP, but noticed Joe Barnes' new Alpine has bottle cage mounts.  Coming to the Five in the near future as well perhaps?

Go to Tesco's and get a plastic chopping board for 2 quid.
Cut to crud catcher shape. Cover in back plastic . Zip tie to frame and drill holes for cages.
You can now easily carry 2 litres of water on your bike.

Fidlock solution looks clean, I can see myself exploring that at some point.

Mate ,

I’ve got an Orange Four, and it drives me nuts not being able to fit a water bottle !
Didn’t think it would bother me , but I was very wrong.

Fidlock ordered, ta!

Orange Four here, cussing the lack of bottle cage mounts, this looks like just the thing.

Will report back.

Have been looking at solutions for teh next kids build and need to have a bottle on a frame with no bosses.
Not super keen on the band on holder solution but fidlocks appears to be the best of them.
Found this though...
Rather than ally.. i wonder how well a 3d printed solution would do?
mtbr solution

I ditched the wearable water and went bottle only for ages, but there's so much dog/horse/sheep/cow sh*t everywhere I ride that I've gone back again. As an aside I was speaking to a guy at my local bike shop and he told me about his friend who got something nasty on his bottle and ended up in hospital, never happened to me but I've often wondered what Ive wiped off the mouth piece of my bottle.

OMM do a small water bottle which fits some of their rucksacks - maybe shoving that or a small foldable bottle in a bumbag like a Race Face Rip Strip or an Evoc Hip pack might be a compromise?

I have one of those and will check if it works with a small bottle like the OMM one - don't reckon it'd stretch round a standard sized one.

Just found an SKS Anywhere adaptor in Snow and Rock. £10 for velcro straps and a bottle cage adaptor. Looks ok.

With my Marin I love the top tube bottle mount.
Fitted a fabric bottle on my 5 and found it got in the way. Not sure why.

Fidlock has arrived so mounted it to the Four.

Good points: both sizes of bottle fit, easy to use, not too fugly with no bottle on.

Bad points: not sure how sturdy it will be on the trail, straps are a bit crap.

Due for a test lap tomorrow, we'll see how she goes.

That's why I buy bikes the same colour as cable ties!

I added some 3m double sided tape underneath my strapped on bottle cage for extra security

Interested to see how 'fettlin' and 'hb70' trials go as I'm keen to add a water bottle to my Orange4.
Got to admit I'm a bit surprised none of the pictures showed bottles with a mouthpiece cover to avoid sheep and dog owner s**t tasting.

Elite Corsa

Though not easy to find and 750ml in black preferred.

Halfords normally have those (Elite Corsa, not necessarily the Coke version) in stock.

dog owner s**t tasting.

You must have some interesting dog owners around your parts. Does it taste different to dog poo, though? 🙂

I've never seen a dog pick any up but have, once or twice, seen a dog owner pick some and put it in a bag and ...... 'sound of rolling drums' ...... actually take it with them from the forest!

Good spot that Halfords have the Elite Corsa's

Just bumping an old thread! Any feedback on the Fidlock Twist bottle? Could really do with a cap when the mud gets going and that 'gravity' strap seems a bit of an afterthought?

Its either this or a side entry cage from Elite or Specialized.
