As above, can't seem to find anything on t'internet, it looks like a normal headtube, is it tapered?
Also, what sort of weight are they coming in at, frame and whole bikes?
I like the Cove G-Spot frames but very heavy at 9.7lb!
Anybody?
2010 are normal headtube
, not sure of weight but it's way under 9.7lb
Brilliant, thanks for that mate, what about the 2011 models? I think i have discovered the weight to be around 6.5 lbs.
there isnt a 2011 model of a alpine 160 i dont think ? all i know is the 2010 version is a normal headtube, they only made the tapered in the AM and the Pro,
Ace, why put it on the 2011 5 and not on the heavier duty bike? weird!!
Fine though as saves me getting headset reducers.
Medium Alpine 160 you get a full bike down to 32 lbs
I would think the 2011 Alpines will have the tapered head tube
if they are making the alpine 160 to a 2011 upgrade.. but they would have done already, besides i got told the apline 160 is an upgrade from the orange " something" errm... someone help me there lol
Don't know if they are putting a tapered steerer on the 2011 but either way it will be good.
Yeah, just need to sell my 5 frame now. Yeah i thought it would be on the Orange website aswell but nothing to indicate it will be tapered or 1.5". Ill be having a 16", so hopefully get it a shade under the 32.
Have seen a great deal on a Trek Remedy 8 aswell, anybody got any opinions on that as a competitor to the Alpine? I know it is not the same travel but it was a good deal and got the wheels turning in the heed..
Im still having the Alpine 160 tho..
When I spoke to the Orange guys at Fort Bill, they said that the Alpine 160 was going to get the tapered head tube and 30.9 seatpost for 2011. They estimated that it would be out in October.
The Orange 5 was supposed to be out at that time, but due to demand, they sold out of all the 2010 models early, so went to the 2011 model early.
I'm waiting for October very eagerly ๐
I think the 224 style adjustable headtube would work well on the Alpine.
Then the rider has the choice to run the steerer diameter they want at the head angle they want.
Looks like the R&D has shown tapered to be the best option.
niceone im so glad you posted this pic, i can get to see what color bike looks best in white rims xD
