Had my tax rebate recently and now have a couple of grand burning a hole in my pocket.
Went out to look at bikes earlier and came home with a Magnum Temptation instead.
So, the new Orange 5, is it over 2,000 times better than a Magnum Temptation?
I made the same decision but using a maxibon as a reference. In these hard time I looked at it in pure financial terms.

so the orange has to provide 6000minutes of smooth creamy cookie dough delight.
This is 100hrs, about 20 rides worth of time.
If 50% is spent going uphill then only 50% is suitable downhill pleasuring.
So 40 rides, then minus the clean and staring at it in the garage -20%.
32 rides. Seems a fairly quick payback to me.
This is all helped by the speed I can wolf down a lolly. A bit to quickly as I now have a 2010 Five and now need the much hyped but virtually identical 2011 bike.
If only I used to eat 2 icecreams a day......

50% climbing, 50% descending? Vertical distance maybe, but not time.
FFS, think stuff through. Nothing worse then a half baked idea.
Buy a decent condition 09/10 five off someone who simply must have a 2011 model. Great refinements to an already successfull frame but none are essential upgrades that will make me sell my current five to keep up with the jones'
Plus if you only have 2k to spend that won't get you much five new. In fact the new five s is £2200!
