I've been invited to try a bit of DH @ Cwmcarn over the next few weeks and wondered what I need to do to set the bike up to make it a bit more suitable.

I dont want to spend any money on the bike i.e. new tyres etc as it's only for one day I'm thinking about tyre / shock pressures and how I should adjust them to suit that type of riding.

Also I'm only an average rider so any tips on how not to break my neck would be appreciated....

Cheers all!

hold on the brakes and you'll live !! keep over the back and DO NOT SIT DOWN! let the bike do the work, and look up and down the trail so you keep your perspective on speed and obstacles.

Cwm carn's not rough, steep or too hard.

If you want to not break your neck, leave the bike as it is. You change it then it'll just feel odd. Leave it be and put your saddle down, and have fun!

Drop the saddle.
DH tubes and lower pressures if you can manage two new tubes.
Leave the bounce settings alone, that all becomes more preference than, practicality.

Erm that's it really.

Big fat front tyres don't hurt though - you could try and borrow one
