Thinking of going for my first XC race at Kirroughtree British XC series at the end of June - Anyone know what's the difference in levels between fun and open?
Or is it worth it going for any of the other categories?

I'd say Open was for those who have raced before, whereas fun was for those who wanted to try it for the first time. Could be wrong though.

Fun you are allowed to ride round the puddles, boost off lips and drift sweet corners, open you must ride the sheep line and run the fun bits.

I'd imagine No of laps and entry cost/requirement may be less for "fun" entrants

Fun likely to have have smaller or less prizes at a guess as it isn't meant to be as serious as the rest...

The number of entries for these at the other rounds have been very low. Check the results on timelaps. Might be because they are on the Saturday with the main races on Sunday. Small entries means very spread out riders and not many people to race which can be dull. Are there any smaller races you could try first?
