Did this to my trusty xtr mech. Is there any hope of fixing it? Can you get spare/replacement cages? Or is it a case of stipping down a cheap mech?

Stuart.

The old ones are good - better than deore and much lighter, I just got one cheep off the classifieds. You could maybe do the same??

It seems to have (worn out) replacement jockey wheels. In my book thats worn! Why cant you just use the XT one instead?

buy a deore (or try it with the XT you just bought) and swap the cage (or even half the cage) on to it? It's only the top half that governs the shift the bottom half just takes up the slack.

Might work / work well - might not.

You can get aftermarket carbon ones other than the yumeya ones. Or post a wanted on the classifieds, someone will have a ripped up old one.

Classifieds to the rescue, if your really attached you could always strip the new one for parts for the old one.
