Did this Saturday morning preparing to ride snowdon

oopps.. I was about to crank it down I think i may have tightened the bottom bolts too far tbh. The metal did look super thin though

Luckily bunkhouse owner lent me his super small 40mm stem which felt amazing riding down rangers

Great pic from today

It was on my mates spesh enduro. Mines gone back in the shop so spesh can inspect the knackered BB threads.

It was off my d-jab so swapped it over to my mates bike with my lovely ragley bars

bugger..

WHY post up about this when you admit you have overtightened it, damaging a mfrs reputation?

:Jesus wept:

how is it damaging a reputation? tricky has already said it was overtightened (like your knickers which appear to be a bit of twist) and at no point did he blame poor goods.

You sir are an arse!

Its worth getting one of these. Its surprising how little the torque needs to be on stem face plate bolts.

+1 for a torque wrench for stem bolts etc, did two bolts up by hand (diametrically opposite bolts) and two using a torque, i was shocked by how much I over tightened bolts normally

Oh and al, did you not get your morning hug?

WTF!

You're still implying a problem by associating on-one with broken parts for no good reason!

Re. headset comment: please untwist and re-fit knickers, can no one on here take a joke anymore?

Cynic-al, even if you have been misunderstood, you do come across as a bit of a dollop mate!

What by saying the metal was super thin? That's cus it's a lightweight stem. I haven't blamed on one in the slightest and in no way does this thread reflect on them.

I'd say that reflects on them, no need to comment otherwise?...I wouldn't post up about broken components without being clear whose fault I thought it was.

Tricky- would an uber light kcnc 70mm do you? It'll cost you a couple of bottles of nice beer at the E6. Drop me an email n I'll pop in the post for you. I do have somw silly light pro moto carbon flat bars with an 11 degree sweep 660mm wide but they are 25.4

sounds great taz. I'll obviously get you to tighten it for me as i wouldn't want to ruin KCNC's rep 😉

Is it 31.8?

Now I don't ordinarily troll, but I can't help but wonder what the reaction might have been if this had been the identical Superstar stem?

Most bolts on a bike, and especially anything to do with handlebars, should only be tightened up enough to hold it - it doesn't need 'cranked down on'.

Try tightening any allen bolt using the short end of the allen key - IOW with the long end in the bolt and the short end at 90 degrees. This will limit the amount of torque you can put on the bolt, and should still be enough for most tasks.

I'd check you haven't damaged the handlebars as well... not a good place for them to 'fold'.

I have a race face D2 stem and the destructions say face plate bolts should be 12.2-13.6nm. Holy cynic-al is a nobber that's a lot. 😯

Ignore al.

Since TJ's flounce and then diminished returning presence, he's just looking for a fight constantly.
