Wide chippers vs std midges. Got Luxys but no pics. Of the 2, for a Fargo, the Woodchipper or Luxy would be my 2nd choice, the Midge the 3rd.
I know mine aren't set up high enough here but even so, I don't really like any of them, for me they turn a drop bar with 2 useful positions into something that's only right in one. Being lower-more stretched when braking and shorter-higher when cruising is the wrong way round for me. They're also a bit compromised for harder SS climbing as the hoods end up at a funny angle. They would be really comfy if I was on the drops 80-90% of the time, but if I have just one main position I'd rather have a swept flat MTB bar. I'm not that attached to the looks of a drop.

Decided that 1 set of Jones loops really are worth 2 or 3 sets of alt drops, they can offer the same basic position as the chippers with less stem rise but also other really useful positions, more controls options etc. If I want flared drops I'd have cowbells or similar with much less flare, closer to a normal drop bar. Seen a few fargos with loops and I think they're a more useful bar for a bike like that.

Not tried the woodchippers but couldn't get on with the Midges.

The drops for me are too wide and the handhold to short and I don't have particularly big hands either.
I didn't find riding on the hoods comfortable either ,not a patch on my road bike with regular drops.

I wanted to like them and they looked good but not a good match in the end.

Haven't tried Woodchippers but I'm a big fan of midge bars! the only drops where I've really used the drops! find I spend about 80% of the time on the drops. Mine are on a single speed too but I don't have any problems climbing, at least not a problem that I can blame on the bars :). Guess it's a personal thing and depends on setup: where you put the brake levers on the bend and the angle of the bars.

Only had a quick shot on midges, too flared for me.

Love my woodchippers.

I agree with what this man says. When I moved from standard drops to the Midge, I still mostly used the hoods. Soon realised the drops are way more comfy, and now use the drops exclusively. I only bother with bar tape on the drops now, not the top. Setting the angle/rotation of the bar and the position of the levers is important. This is on a SS road bike.
