Just found this link to my childhood summarized in one video
http://canyoudigitbmx.com/soil/
Me and my mate watched this video on repeat till we wore the tape out and tried to copy all the tricks (we never did)
Just dreaming of one day taking our bmxs to sheep hills (we never did that either)

Some good hazy memories from that pic Sharkattack.

The guy Marvin grinding that massive railing to Ace of Spades.
Van Homan's scary gap grinds
Forget who it was but the segment with Creedance Clearwater got me right into them.

Really want to watch it now...
Magic.

This was the only moving images of BMX i had in the 80s. When i wasn't riding my bike i was watching it. Everything else was magazine pics and you had to guess how to get into the contorted positions depicted. Made for many a strange crash ๐Ÿ˜†

A while later this came out and made everyone look shit

Got a load of BMX VHS tapes I need to copy onto DVD -
Little Devil - Seek and destroy.
Etnies - Forward
Building the underground (excellent trails vid)
Fox - Expendable youth (dug that one out recently for the Dave Mirra section)
Loads more I can't remember.
I love the scene feel of some of these videos, don't seem to get that so much these days just banger tricks one after the other.

Oh and how come BMX clothing companies were so much cooler BITD than anything we have now - UGP / Little Devil / LORD?

The Dorkin videos were brill. I had Hypnosis and Wheelies (7 & 8 I think) BITD. I loved Soil as well, and the Backyard vids with bits from the Jam were good (The Chasm, anyone?) ๐Ÿ˜†

Enjoy ๐Ÿ˜€

Thanks for that link, can see myself wading through that site for quite a while.
Seems I was mixing up the Little Devil films, I was thinking of Seek and Destroy.

Aaah..

That brings back memories CFH ๐Ÿ™‚

We didn't get a video recorder til '88 but in '85 I could do a few of the tricks in that video and occasionally got to go over to my mum's mate's place where her sons had a halfpipe in their backyard

I had this poster on my wall for years

I still go on YouTube and watch bits of Standard Style Cats. Got me into flatland that one.

I never got hold of the Dorkin series, would love a set.

That Dave Young section informed my entire BMX career and taste in music and trucker hats for years to come.
