We managed to sort a group of about twenty ish for oldfarts birthday ride. It was always going to be a wet ride but , hey , didnt stop us having fun ! I think I got the route spot on for the conditions including some cracking downhills and climbs. We endured one big crash(Andy) ,several punctures and lots of brake pad wear. Infact I rode the last downhill with no material left on the rear pads ! What was nice was Chipps came along too and put some names to faces. By the time we got back to the carpark the mist had set in and it was getting dark. Thanks to all who came along and Ralphies for the free tube vouchers/grub. Oh and the pics are straight off my new camera so please excuse me not knowing how to set it up correctly. Comments ?

bugger me that off was definatly my biggest the 12ft climb out of the ditch was a bit of a trial too
That will teach me for singing "Jilted john" when at full chat and then exceeding the extremities of my performance envelope
looks like a good group ride was had ๐
Bloody good ride i say!
You lot certainly got out at the right time too, my slog back to Lyd hill then back into taunton was nasty!!!! The cloud really came in with a wind to boot. Clocked 32 miles in the end so you lot must have done 18ish i think?
I'll upload the route for those (very few!) without GPS's when I get 2 mins!
Good ride, great day! Thanks OF for the idea and Knottie for the knowledge. Nice to meet some more new folk and thanks to Pete and Pikey for help with the brake pads. Charlie thanks for the sweeties and tube voucher! Andy glad you're ok and buzz lightyear........ use a tree next time! ๐

We watched Ice ice 3, ate Spagetti Bolanaise then watched ET, did a little anti rain dance to keep the wet stuff at bay for as long as pos.
Healing vibes Andy, hope the eye sight improves and more importantly your wife continues to not talk to you ๐
Where's the obligatory pic of Chipps pulling a funny face ? ๐ฏ
Many thanks to all those who turned up today for Oldfarts Q's birthday ride. It was nice to meet some new faces & meet the Q's crew again too.

some people had Tea & tiffin before the ride
Oldfart flashes off his new homemade 'beef flap' to those who couldn't escape
Bobsoff2 & his mate (who's name I forget - sorry)
Chipps making sure he's still got all his fingers
even the Sun came out at the top of Weacombe
Dinnertime at West Quantockshead car park with Sharki & his kids

๐ ...if there was anyone on this forum that was going to happen to....
cheers guys (& girls) for a good ride & great company! Unfortunatly the sweets and cake has turned me into "blubberman" Highlight of the day was Charlie giving Pete a voucher for a free tube! Priceless. ๐
Right giggle on the Mendip today. Sun was out and it was incredibly wet and muddy. Downhill was like surfing at times the bike was moving in any direction but the one it was pointing. Ta to candodave and pals. Waves to Chipps too - you saw our hill at its worst but we hope you still had fun.
BTW will we see a pic of elliptic in the mag?
Crispy, that my old riding crew, Bobsoff, Jez the cripple and oraficer Davis the welshie.
Mucho reeespect for Jez riding that far so soon after his hip opp, the guys a legend, just the one though.
Which guy was pete that I gave a voucher too?
Pete: big fella wearing a black soft shell, riding a dark green Knolly FS. Owns Bike City in Wells ๐
probably the guy riding a Knolly with the orange camper
Ahhh Ha! Excellent!
Best come and check out my bike shop then!!
Happy Birthday Roland, glad you had a great day :0)
