Is anyone using one of these, good bad ?. The reviews seem very mixed so is it a reasonable cheap alternative or a waste of money ? Cheers
Erm hmm it depends what you're looking for
ime it is not an unobtrusive dropper. It makes its presence known in the same way as mushy shifters or wooden brakes. It works it goes up and down but it does it in a very primitive kind of way there is nothing sophisticated about it. Cheap'n'cheerful Tesco Value etc
The action is smooth but leisurely which is good if you're not used to droppers but it becomes tiresome after a while because you want it to drop RIGHT NOW and come back up RIGHT NOW not in a few seconds or when it feels like it. The lever is also big which makes it easy for your thumb to find it but it dominates the handlebar layout esp if you're into mimimalist setups.
The seat clamp has come loose a couple of times which is allegedly a known issue but Chain Reaction fixed it and returned it very quickly. Other than that it has been completely reliable in a blunt instrument kind of way. It is what it is

Thats great thanks for the reply

This.
Had one fitted to a demo bike I tried at the weekend. It worked, but I had to give it seven days written notice when I wanted it to pop back up...

Doesn't seem to be any way of speeding it up..
