So, I have the original batteries (no switches and no hi/low/flash).

Following on from DezB's group-buy, I was swithering as to whether to buy a new battery with the flash option for commuting. Decided that I can't really justify it but did start thinking - how hard can it be to pop a little in-line strobing circuit inbetween the light and battery?

Beyond my limited electronics design but maybe someone out there might be able to suggest an approach?

Suggestions appreciated...

I recently bought one of Ay up's newer batteries with the flashing option, and was a bit underwhlemed by it. The speed at which it flashes is far slower than I was expecting - which IMO makes it less useful as a 'be seen' type light on the road (which is why I bought it in conjunction with some Saxon caps).

The two power levels in the non-flashing mode, also seemed too similar to one another.
