I only ever use Shimano pads in my Shimano brakes and Avid in my BB7s.

Specialized command Post and the Giant one both seem pretty solid performers. No frills and pretty reliable.
Cheating a bit, but love my Canyon VCLS post, and find the bars really comfy as well.
And hell yeah for tyres from the big S. Love my Slaughter.

The irony being Specialized make very little - like many bike companies, they sub-contract manufacture to someone else like Velo to make their saddles

Do Velo et al also do all the research and design that goes into the parts?

Ah yes, I have Specialized saddle and seatpost on my non-Specialized road bike, they are good and don't appear to be badged stuff.

Also have a Command Post on my Trek which is great, but I don't rate their tyres at all. I think that's all I have that's OEM branded.

Not OEM but the stock Praxis cranks that came on my £1000 Specialized appear to be £150 aftermarket jobs, significantly lighter than the Tiagra cranks I replaced them with (to use some existing oval rings) and with fatter axle and bigger external bearings, nicer looking as well. d'oh!

Yup, but that's just modern branding isn't it. I like Maxxisspecializedononecst Cheng Shin tyres myself.

Giant OEM is always pretty good. But then they make it for many others as well! Theirbroad tyres aren’t bad at all. Stems, posts etc are all very good. Saddles are fine for me but then they often spec nicer non OEM ones on their better bikes. Wheels have been absolutely excellent.

+1 for Specialized tyres and saddles. Got them on the road and mountain bikes.

To be honest most OEM stuff is fine. With a seatpost/stem/bar or even a crank if the shape is right and the weight is on target then most of the rest is cosmetic.

Some nice touches on Canyon's finishing kit - it's generally very plain but I really like that they clearly mark all the dimensions and bolt torques.

Another one for specialized shoes. Scott’s bars and stems seem to be good as well.

As this has become a "good things made by big bike brands" thread then I'll add Bontrager tyres and their OMW boots.

Like bontrager saddles as well. Affinity Elite, road saddle but had three until I snapped one after a spill.

Love the stem on my Whyte 909. Just ergonomically nice.

I've found the soles on my 2 pairs of 2fo shoes to be pretty shite. Shame as the rest of the shoe has been great.

Not modern at all. Velo were making all the oem saddles back in 1992.

Modern is anything after 1976 as far as I’m concerned

Giant finishing kit is indeed very good.

Got a nice 40mm Kona stem that came on my process 111 and has served me well across several subsequent bikes.

Nicer shape than a lot of after market jobs.

Merida kit on my cx500 is fairly decent, SC carbon bars that came with the Bronson are lovely too.
