[#10403486]

I’m after some events worth entering...
I’m a runner mainly these days, ultra/endurance/mountain type stuff
But... I’ve always been a biker and wanting to get more into endurance stuff on wheels too(partly as I’m running injured at the moment too)
Bike wise;
Got my road bike
Just built up a sweet steel 1x11 gravel bike
Toying with building up a new steel Hardtail mtb too
I have entered the dirty reiver and the Dorset gravel dash 100

I would love to know some of the more gnarly, spectacular, fun, harrowing endurance’s races that folk would reccomend

I’m down in Cornwall too, so any local advice on long off road route suitable for a 700c x 42mm setup

Cheers

The Fred Whitton is the classic road sportive. Not mega hard but still a tough day on the bike and an amazing event.
Entries open next month and you have a better chance of getting a place if you've never done it before.

could be a contender, as i love the lakes and used to live there. I did the dartmoor classic a few years ago, which was ace but as a rule i tend to avoid road events for biking and running. Everyone seems so serious!

The Haglofs Open 5 events might appeal to you, running biking and navigation.

I've entered Gritfest for next year. looks tough. 90km on the Saturday with 2400m climbing and 40km with 1000m on the sunday. Each day has 3 timed stages bit like an mtb Enduro, except the timed stages are massive and not all downhill.

Not races, but plenty of endurance events up to 1200km here:

You could try some audax. I think there's a few around Cornwall, maybe including an off-road option. http://audaxkernow.co.uk/

Gnarly, spectacular, fun, harrowing? See if No Fuss run the Endurance Downhill next year. It's only 6 hours but if you haven't gone half mad by 4 hours in you're doing it wrong.

Endurance huh, these guys know how to put on an endurance event: https://www.theracingcollective.com/gbduro.html

Then there’s the Dirty Reiver in April at Kielder; or take a look on here:

Some amazing options there, thanks
Grit fest entered. Haglofs 5 has been on my radar for a while, soon as I can run again, I’m on it.
Really appreciate it!
I’m also keen if anyone has a hair brained scheme and needs a fellow idiot to do it with.
I’m going to give two moors way in a day, on a gravel bike, a punt once the weather sorts itself out a bit

May I introduce you to Highfell events?

http://highfellevents.co.uk

Based up here in Northumberland. They're even resurrecting the kielder 100 next year (even if it isn't a single lap any more it'll still be a bugger).

Generalist

I’m keen for all of the above. C2c as a recce would be good, as I’m hoping to run it at some point.

Added highfell to my favourites, plenty of interesting events, shame they are at the other end of the country
