After watching the vids on Great Rocks website i have noticed this frame has transformed Nigel Pages riding so obviously feel it might do the same for mine...;)

What length and stroke is the shock?

What does she weigh?

Anybody ridden one?

From their face book site:

200x57mm shock

223/12/10: Nuke Proof: We're unable to confirm exact weight until we have production model. As soon as we do we'll post on the website

I had a ride on them back in October when they were testing the prototypes with us...

Very nice, short top tubes (compared to my spicy) and lots of fun..

Reach to the bars is very similar, from the BB. Sat further forward - one thing some of our riders found was the Lapierres are all quite long when you're sat down.

The spicy is indeed long also my spicy has a layback post and a 65mm stem....

The mega definately felt quicker, it was very responsive... I was also impressed withe RS shock... do they come as standard?

Yes. That Rock Shox is standard.

We've just got our preproduction sample. Couple of weight saving changes, interestingly we managed to increase the strength and stiffness of the rear stays and reduce weight 🙂

New frame drops 175g off the one that STW had.

New chainstays are a bit deeper and wider, just to give more rear end stability. Pics when I get the nod.

I had a wee ride on Nigel's one and was really impressed. I was only on it briefly but was impressed with how solid it felt without being heavy. Not very scientific but it felt like I could jump on it and ride flat out straight away. I'm hoping to pick one up for next season so you could say I liked it.

Will the quality be good ? BB and head tube faced and brake mounts faced, good welds etc....I really would like one, but I'm a bit nervous of spending alot of money if its not going to be good quality,
I've recently bought an mmmBop and its a great ride but the BB and head tube where very poorly finished so had them faced, not a problem on a £150 frame ....I really hope its up there with the quality.

Working on new years day Brant 😉

Jeffus ive had a lot of time prodding round all the NukeProofs and the welds and general finish quality on all the prototypes is very high.

Cant comment on how much facing will be done on the production models but im sure Brant will know.

Ride quality wise i managed to nab on hour or so on one of our prototypes and loved it, has a real hooligan appeal to it on anything interesting but is nicely balanced on flowing singletrack and climbs too. Impressed. 1st Production Medium in Yellow has my name on it anyway 😀

v10 Thanks for the feedback, I hope Brant can give us more detail, I also want a medium Yellow, 😀
I would like to try a few races, as a complete newbie, and it looks like it will be a good forgiving and confidence building ride, 🙂

Well ive just checked all the preorders and yellow is the least popular... so its clearly the best colour 😆

And its £50 cheaper! Ill be honest though i chose it as we had a yellow scalp built up (the one that was stolen in london actually) which was yellow with the matching yellow seatpost and the ISP look kinda did it for me so i want same with my mega!

Jeffus worst case scenario is that if they dont come prefaced you could probably find a shop (and there are plenty signed up as dealers already all over the country) that would be willing to do this included in the price of the frame. The Black and Silver are anodized anyway so it would only ever be an issue on the yellow ones, but im sure brant will confirm shortly anyway.

POSTED 12 HOURS AGO # REPORT-POST

Different factory, and let's just say our QC documentation and standards are constantly being updated.
We now have TWO fulltime staff in Taiwan keeping a very close eye on all this.

Might be easier if you had your frames made in the UK then.

Easier in the UK? Really? Somehow I think the mass-production experts in Taiwan will have a better chance of hitting the qual specs, within budget, than anyone in the UK would

UK? The frames I've seen/brought from taiwan are much tidier than those from the UK. They are quite a bit better at it than us, or the yanks for that matter.

Got a serious hankering after a silver mega with CCDB and ti nukeproof spring 🙂

So serious in fact, I've already got the CCDB and ti spring 😆

Should be a nice match to my current Fox Van 36 RC2 on the front.

That sounds like a rather tasty setup thv!

I was really impressed with the monarch on the mega, no hint of it feeling out of its depth. Went through the midstroke a wee bit easy for my liking but i like things pretty stiff and there is a slight change on the tune were using on the production shock.

Will still give a coil shock a go in mine to see how it performs though.

I have a Mega on order, however I'm still unsure what size to get.
I'm 5.9" and have the Medium on order - but I tend to prefer longish bikes.

Medium sound about OK?

Out of interest, what size is Nigel messing around on in this video?

I'm 5' 9" and want to get a medium. I had a medium Nomad and that was great for me similar tope tube length to the Mega..

They do look very nice... thinking of running one with 150mm Revelations as an alround bike to replace the old Enduro.

Supercow - Pretty sure that was 'Regular'.

Initial plan was to have a short and a regular but we added a larger size and went small medium large instead, so effectivly its the same as the production medium. Thats the bike i rode and felt great on (im 5'10) i ordered a medium.

I have the same question about the size, and I'm also 5'9" (or 1,75m, I'm german ;)).
I think based on the reach the small sounds right, but the toptube sounds better on the medium. Also the wheelbase on the medium is really long for an AM bike. Those 75° seat angles are confusing for size choosing 🙂

Is the Monarch Shock custom valved for the Mega? In the singletrack review the criticised that it's hard to adjust. Has something changed there for the production model?

I'm looking at one of these frames but am a bit worried about the seat tube length with my long legs. I'm 6'3 and just can't see how an 18.5" (Large) frame is going to allow the seat post to be high enough. I'd be running a rockshox reverb seatpost most likely.
By the looks of the thread it seems there are a couple members attached to the brand so was wondering if you guys could help?!

I was looking at one of these yesterday on chainreaction site and thought it be a nice replacement for the Prophet MX I got rid off but does anyone know what they climb like? Also being 5'7" will the small be about right?

I only had a quick go on Nigel's and it seemed to pedal very nicely. Both him and Ed commented on how well it climbed. That was a big factor for me in selling me on the frame since I'll need to climb a fair bit on it. I

Reading on the Website it seems the frame only comes with a 1 year warranty, anyone know if this is correct?

If a frame is going to break its going to break within a year, but for a new to the market frame building company it worries me slightly.

I'd be well tempted if I didn't already have a bike to do the job... There seems to be a real buzz about them which probably means about a month after they ship there'll be loads in the classifieds being sold by people who really shouldn't have got one but got carried away

+1 on the warrenty, on cheep hardtail frames I wouldn't mind, but shelling out the best part of a grand? Especialy when the big boys like Trek, Marin, etc al. are offering 2/3/4/5year/lifetime warenties.

was seriously considering one of these once theyd properly hit the market to replace a nomad, but if they do only come with a 1yr warranty then as the dragons say, I'm out. Hardly shows faith in the product.

Wonder if brant is listening, seems a clumsy way to lose custom after all that time spent designing, testing and marketing...

Are the sizes fairly on-one esque? I've an 18" 456 but dont fancy the mega's even steeper seat angle, would I be Ok on a medium with a layback?

Chain pull would be wrong.

Idler pulley bodged onto a chain device of some sort?

Looks great and the angles are spot on on paper but the effective top tube looks way too short on the large. Hard to tell until you ride one.

unless you are a giant you might find you'd have trouble lifting the front if you combined a mega long top tube with an almost DH slack head angle and long fork.
the front centre and wheel base on the large are plenty long enough. it's clearly not an XC bike!
I'm 5'11" and would ride a small (if I liked them)

Please note not all of those dealers listed on the dealer listings will be able to supply you frames. Up until this year NP has been a parts brand so there has been little if any "dealer areas" hence two 'dealers' in stourbridge.

Now that we produce frames this will change and any shop commiting to stock Nuke Proof frames will be given an area, shops within that area will still have access to Nuke Proof parts and accessories but not the frames. Ill have a word so that the dealer listing has some way of determining who is going to be carrying frames.

Good point GW

Not really saying it needs a mega long top tube but that one sounded fairly short for an 18.5. I am 6ft and my Mythic has an 18.5" seat tube, a 24" effective top tube, a 66 degree HA and with a 50mm stem this feels perfect for very aggressive riding, particularly downhill. I have had not had any trouble getting the front end up but admittedly it would be easier on a shorter bike. The point I was making is that there are some really progressive, slack frames coming along but I find a lot of them too short when in the standing position and that leads to an unbalanced ride (for me).

However I may just be a weird shape and it's hard to tell on paper how it will fit so will be interested to try.

Looks like an awesome bike all the same.
