Can I be the first to clarify that:

I've no idea where that was filmed
Trails are nothing like that
It's not worth the trip, the riding is shit

Thanks 🙂

Nope. Not like that. In fact to prevent wasted journeys I may build a new Hadrian's wall, called Ben's wall, a few miles south of the old one, and conveniently just a tiny bit south of my house, in order to ensure no one accidentally travels this far north hoping for good riding in scotland.

You're welcome.

I think that was filmed in Swindon not Scotland.
It's not like that at all up here and defo not worth coming.
Save money and time by going to Swindon instead.

Well I went to Dalbeattie once about 15 years ago, so I can officially say I've ridden in Scotland. No need to go back now.....

To be fair a lot of Scottish trails (well in my part of Scotland at least) are covered in fallen trees at the moment so I probably wouldn't bother for trying for quite a while.

He's wisely omitted the Inverness and Highlands area from his recommendations.

You'd have to be crackers if you were wanting to ride here.

Spectacular. Perhaps someone should feed back to them that Laggan Red slab is not in Dumfries and Galloway 😉

Weirdly only the NW Highlands block made me want to go up? That looked grand though.

Or that The Lomond Hills, aka The Paps of Fife, are not in Perthshire.

Though he does list Golspie in Aberdeenshire. I wish!

And as others have said - don't believe any of it. Fake news - I think it was all CGI.

Broken trees

Currently mostly like this, there are/were trails in each picture

That one is stunning - look at the way the trees are just broken off.

Yes nothing to see here. Unfortunately the downed trees is real. 'Unmanaged' trails will take years to reopen or never will, for example in the Moors of Feshie.

Or that The Lomond Hills, aka The Paps of Fife, are not in Perthshire. except, weirdly, some of them are in Perth & Kinross 🙂

@thegeneralist…is that not ‘the slab’ at Dalbeattie? Maybe it is the one at Laggan, but I thought that was smoother. It’s been a while since I’ve been to Dalbeattie mind.

Edit…nope, you’re quite right!

The only time the wee one has been to Dalbeattie he was on a 20" wheel Bheinn, and he defo didn't ride the slab on it.

Neither have I, if I'm honest. Maybe time for a trip 🤔

Good advert & nice reminder of just how amazing Scotland is to visit.

I'm a bit put out by the amount of plagiarism in that video, and the post edit that makes him sound like a robot doesn't help.

Yeah, I have to assume that he got permission to use clips from other folks videos...

The Max Headroom "talking head" style with its random cuts mid sentence seems to be very common in YouTube at the moment. I too find it bloody annoying.

Aye, I stop watching them as it is really annoying and detracts from the effort put in to make it. Practice what you are going to say and get it done in 1 take, or break it up into smaller sections and do some camera fades and change shot angle so it looks intentional rather than cobbled together.

Assuming he did get permission for all the other work, is there credits for the work?

I managed the first couple of minutes so haven't seen it all (but did seem to be all of someone else's work) and a choppy takes.

Suspect the content matter is actually quite good but the edit puts me off.

Says me who has made some properly terrible video attempts previously so just doesn't now.

Forgot to say in my moan...I've watched several of his other videos and found them very enjoyable...so suspect this just isn't working for me but also expect there will be others that do.

I was saving this to watch later, the thumbnail now says the video is private. Is that the same for everyone else? 🙁

I wonder if it is being edited - maybe in light of comments here or complaints by copyright owners.

Never mind riding there, videos like this really don't help with wanting to live in the Pitlochry/Dunkeld/Perth area...
