After over a decade of faithful service (maybe 2) my Shimano MW80s are due for retirement.
I have a £100 voucher for CRC, and the currently have some northwave MTB and gravel winter boots 8n stock. How do they come up size wise?
For reference, I'm normally a 45 (Uk10) but my current Shimano boots are roomy at a 46, while my specialized summer shoes are snug at a 44 (probably should've been a 45 in reality).
Are they wide/narrow/long/short? Any general comments from any owners?
Cheers, keith
I'm a UK 10 / EU44 in normal shoes but I take a 45 in Northwave and 46 in new Shimano. I find the most useful measurement is the Japanese one, all of the above are between 28.5 and 29
They're narrow IME, which is OK for me, I have narrow feet. They are about the only thing that keep my feet warm though, so if they fit they are good.
The cleats mounts are quite far forward on NW shoes, more so than say Specialized, so if you like the cleat / pedal to be further back, you might want to look elsewhere.
I have wide feet and Northwave fit me, but the winter boots are too snug in usual size. They're decent with summer socks but won't take thick or waterproof socks.
I bought some Northwave winter road boots which really are great but pretty narrow. That said, I have wide forefeet, and they are tight but just about tolerable.
I went up one size to allow room for thick socks.
Size 45 in my 10+ year old Shimano MTB shoes and 45 in both my spd NW boots (winter goretex booties and summer xc/zwift slippers). Oh and my NW clan flat MTB shoes, which fit sealskinz socks in them.
And my new balance trainers, and my ASICS running trainers.
So yeah, a 45 in everything.
45 in normal shoes and a 45 in Northwave winter boots. If you like thick socks for riding in the go up one size to a 46.
Up half a size 12(46) to 12.5(47) from usual shoes. Similar sizing to a pair that are 5 years old.
My feet when measured are EU 43. My summer shoes are Northwave and a 44 but my Northwave winter boots are a 45. I did try a 44 in the winter boots but they where just a hint too narrow

Shimano come up small IME. I take a 45 in them but 44 in most other brands. 45 for Northwave boots to allow for thick socks.
