We will be in touch
I've done a couple of rides recently on flat pedals and have surprised myself in how much I enjoyed it, coming from a year of MTB on SPDs. As my SPD pedals are on the gravel bike, I can't be arsed to swap them to the MTB every time I want to go for a ride, and my DMR V12's are ripping up the soles of my trainers I used for the last 2 rides, it's time for a set of proper flat pedal shoes - I've got an awesome pair of Northwave Raptor GTX SPD boots, and like the look of both the new Northwave Tribe and Clan shoes.
Question is, has anyone tried both, and is the Clan worth the extra £30 over the tribe?
Tweeks have the Tribe at £65 and the Clan at £95. I'm guessing the sizing will be similar, I'm a 44.5/45 in my northwave boots and my regular shoes.
Cheers 🙂
Haven't tried the Tribe, but I've had a pair of the Clans for a couple of months and they've been spot on. The soles are really sticky and have held up well, the toe box is a nice shape for my foot and they don't soak up water/take ages to dry like 5.10s! My only complaint is that the tongues aren't gusseted, so when pushing the bike I get nore dirt and grit inside the shoes than on my old Shimanos with the lace cover but it's not a massive issue.
I know this didn't get many replies but I thought I'd update it anyway in case it helps someone else, picked up a pair of grey size 45 clans from tweeks, £85 after the £5 voucher that always pops up when I visit.
The sizing is spot on, I'm a 44.5 or 45 in every other shoe. Plenty of room in the toe area and you can feel the shank in the sole but they're not uncomfortable to walk in. Grip seems very good (although this is my first pair of proper flat pedal shoes) with my dmr v12 pedals. Zero heel lift either.
In all, very happy 🙂👍
