Run both 2.35's and 2.1's SP tyres with no bother.

I have a 2.3 non-ust high roller thats being a swine. It won't seat on my stans flow at all.

JRA basically shrugged their shoulders and said they wouldn't take it back or swap it, and suggested using a rim strip.

Dur, that's why I have a Stans rims, so I don't have to use one!

ScienceOfficer: My understanding with the Stan's rims is that UST tyres should be fine with just the yellow rimtape, non-UST tyres need a rim strip.

I've managed to get a Minion (non-UST DH casing) seated on a Mavic 823 fine without any burping.

In my experience (and those of my mates) non-UST tyres are likely to burp if you corner hard. I'm now running Stan's Flows with UST tyres. Was thinking of trying some non-UST tyres (cheaper & more choice) with the Stan's rimstrip (but the rimstrips are pricy).

I'm aware of the prevailing advice, but I've managed to run non-UST on Flows successfully for at least 12 months without rim strips.

The bead interlock is so much better than standard, once they're in, they're in. Whilst I've had burping on regular rims and tyres (with no rimstrips), its never been a problem on the Flows.

Airing them up has also not been a problem until this particular highroller, but since the rim strip takes up so much slack in the bead/rim interface, I can understand why they recommend the rimstrips, since it improves the chances of airing up substantially.

I actually have a set of Stans Flow Rimstrips, but experience to date has shown I haven't really needed them.

I've got the highroller at Max PSI on a spare wheel with a tube in for about a week so far, in order to get some shape into the bead. When I have time, I'm going to give it a go again with the tube in first to mount one whole side. Oddly, its only one side that's not seating and is proving to particularly recalcitrant.

im on 819s, so no rim strips required here, will chuck some sealant in too for good measure.
