[Closed] Non disposable Mudhugger Mounting

The mudhugger's brilliance at keeping my back dry is only matched by its sheer butt ugliness and lack of aesthetics the rest of the time.

The other mudguards I've got come with a simple QR, but the hugger requires endless faff with zipties. Which then go in the bin each time I take it off.

If only they would provide a decent, clean, quick mounting system...

In the meantime, I seem to recall someone mentioning reusable zipties for it. Can anyone provide a link to some that work with the behemoth sized Mudhugger....

I got some 'reusable' zip ties from a generic chain DIY store for my go pro some years back. Probably a bit fat for a mudhugger though. Also when cranked up tight to stop the go pro slipping, the lever to undo them would bend and not provide enough movement/force to unlock them 🙁
We had another mudguard that came with Velcro fasteners. You could cut the holes in the mudhugger to slots, and double sided Velcro can be got from either a garden centre for tieing plants to stakes, or as audio cable tidying devices from Amazon.

Interested in any solutions that people have come up with.
Velcro - you wont be able to (IMO) get it tight enough to stop the rear MH moving, but it's fin on front ones.

Maybe some sort of plastic jubilee clips would work? Something like this but much smaller?

Yep. That's what I was thinking. Referencing the recent thread on stopping the MH wearing away your seatstays seems to suggest that you need the zipties done up ridiculously tight.

I've considered jubilee clips tbf.

Bugs be the waste of zip ties. Also means I use it less often than i could

smear some silicone on the mudhugger where it sits against the frame, allow it to cure thats better thats better than even the tightest of zipties because its compression hold it in place.

i used to have so velcro ties that doubled back on themselves which allowed you to tighten them enough.

Or just leave it on.

I’ve always used reusable zip ties since I discovered they were a thing a few years ago.

Although I pretty much leave my mud guards on all the time
