[Closed] Noisy front Pro2 bearings - on their way out?

My front hub's bearings make a rumbling noise when spun by hand, a very very slight vibration can be felt through the bars when pushing the bike.

Is it the bearings? Anything I can do without having to change them?

Yep, they're probably knackered.

The good news is that the bearings are an absolute doddle to replace and aren't expensive.

probably and no

People will tell you you can repack them with grease but once they have reached the stage of rumbling they are goosed, New ones are cheap and easy to fit

Cheers guys, thats the next job on the list then!

Are they generic bearings or specific ones? Best place to go to get them?

Your sure it's the bearings? It could be the early stages of rheumatism. Try making the same hand movements without turning the wheel, if you can still hear the noise, it's good news, you've saved a tenner on bearings.

Chain Reaction Cycles is a good place to start. Otherwise, you can find the bearing size from Hope and track down a pair of replacements from a local supplier.

Maybe a good idea to drop Hope a line, they're generally very helpful.

No point repacking rumbling bearings. You've missed the boat by then.

61804-2RS on Pro2 front, available from any bearing supplier at around the £6 mark.

Only way to be sure is to dismantle your frame entirely and then spin the bearing on your finger. If your finger stays still they're fine, if your finger spins around 360 degrees then time for new bearings and a finger.
