Now what's Contador going to do?

Maybe if Tinkoff had a slightly different attitude to doping things might have been different.

"“This problem is exaggerated. As far as I understand it, the topic of doping exists everywhere, in other sports too, but nowhere does it get such phenomenal attention”."

Hmmmm, could be iteresting, especialy if the oppinion amongst teams is that Riss and Contador were in it together i.e. the UCI are witholding the licence based on both their involvement and the message being 'employ Contador and you won't get your licence renewed'.

Katusha didn't make the cut - Saxo did

"In accordance with the UCI regulations, the Licences Commission was requested by the UCI administration to adjudicate on the refusal to register as well as the issuing of the UCI WorldTour licence to applying teams.

As a result of the hearings held on 19, 21, 22, 28 November and 7 December, the Licences Commission has issued a UCI WorldTour licence to the following teams:

AG2R La Mondiale 2013-2016
Euskaltel Euskadi 2013-2016
Former Rabobank 2013-2014
Garmin Sharp 2013-2014
Team Argos–Shimano 2013-2016
Team Saxo – Tinkoff 2013-2014

Finally, the Licences Commission has granted registration for the 2013 season to the following teams:

FDJ
Lotto Belisol
RadioShackNissan

The request from the team Katusha for registration in first division has been rejected. "

Laura Meseguer ?@Laura_Meseguer

Por tanto, Katusha, incluído el número 1 del ranking ProTour, Purito Rodríguez, quedan fuera del WT y entra en su lugar Saxo-Tinkoff

Team Saxo-Tinkoff ?@TeamSaxoTinkoff

@TeamSaxoTinkoff has been granted a World Tour license for the coming two years!

Seems odd that Rodriguez who has been ranked No1 this year doesn't get a ride in the big tours.

But then nothing surprises me these days with the UCI.

Yeah, hasn't he just re-signed with Katusha?

Was looking forward to seeing him mixing it with Contador in the TdF next year, after their battle in the Vuelta this year.

Does seem a little odd this stance.. I mean Argos weren't exactly "points scorers" last/this year.

Still..Fat McQuid will be out soon so all will be well in the world.

I'd imagine Katusha will get invites to all three grand tours but given Contador was hardly outspoken against doping (slightly more pro-doper if anything) until the license review, it seems very odd.

Bizarre indeed. Who would they appeal to? CAS? Sounds like they'd have a damn good case.

Edit: reminded of the quote where someone said the UCI was run as a chumocracy (was that Millar, maybe Kimmage.) might go some way to explaining this.

He si this generations LA clearly
Even Davidjones accepted the decision he was a drug cheat despite his "inside" Spanish knowledge
