Hi
I'm new to this forum and it's unfortunate that it's my first post as I'm looking at selling my kit as I no longer have time to ride!! (I know, it's a shocker and a rubbish excuse) I'll probably get back into it when the kids are a bit older and I have a bit more time to myself (I don't even get time to take a dump these days) and spend more days out of the country than in.
So I'm looking at flogging my gear and would appreciate some advice on where's best and what it's worth these days. I'm sick of getting messed about with eBay, as there's a lot of eedjuts wasting my time.
The main bit of kit is my bike. It's a 2009 Specialized Stumpy FSR Elite, that's only been ridden twice and is in mint condition!!! I bought it with good intentions and then got real busy so it's sat in the garage looking lonely and in need of love.
So to start, where to sell it and at what price? I could just pop it on the classifieds I suppose but I have no real idea what it's worth now.
Appreciate any advice.
Rob

About thruppence hapenny - I'll take it off your hands if you like.
Seriously though, I reckon maybe 2/3rds of the new price on a relatively new, good condition bike. Could be closer to 50% on a slightly older or not amazing condition bike.
as grum ^^ says
price it to make it tempting to someone who is looking for a new one.
Post in classifieds with plenty of pics highlighting condition etc.
50% of retail, sorry. evan at that people will still want to pay less 🙄
the second hand market sucks. good luck!
Keep it, & make time to ride it. Surely you can grab an hour or two a week.
You'll miss it when its gone & your at a loose end. 🙂
If you're planning on riding in the future it'd be most sensible to keep the bike as you'll lose quite a lot on it - unless you need the short term cash
Nooo don't sell it , buy yourself a set of cheap lights ( search for dealextreme/bastid bike lights on here) and you can get out on a night.
I'm in a similar situation to you (young family 6 and newborn , busy decorating ect) and don't have as much time to ride as I'd like .Most of my riding is done on an evening with an odd Sunday ride every 6 weeks or so. If you get rid of the bike you might get fat and the wife will leave you ! 😳 and you won't have a bike to use for getting thin again.
keep it and squeeze in a quick blart when you can. (I've been through parenthood. DON'T neglect your own life. DON'T put it on hold 'until they get older'. You'll never get it back)
Good points. I do have a Giant HT as well though, which I would keep as it's still my favourite. There is an element of releasing equity, well no, it's all about that. Thing is I don't feel that attached to it whereas I simply couldn't flog the Giant. It's done about 2000km around UK and New Zealand.
Any ideas on figures tho? £700?
