Currently have one of these on my bike -

nc17 empire pro

Which has been great but is somewhat overkill for an xc bike and has zero flex. So considering either a lighter alu one, easton carbon or titanium. Any opinions on which is best/likely to be comfiest?

Can live with 0-about 15mm layback, must be 400mm, don't drop my saddle alot and when I do it's normally just 30mm or so.

Easton EA50 made a big difference to my hardtail over a RF Evolve heavy duty thing, so go for it. If you have a fat seatpost now you might gain a bit more flex by going to a smaller diameter and shimming. Also consider your saddle.

I have a Thomson post on my 456 far too stiff

Swapped it for a cheap £16 alloy post which flex's loads

Sorted

27.2 is what I need

The Van Nic looks nice, or I was looking at these spin post on ebay

I know the titanium should be more durable than carbon but as comfy?

I have a Spesh S Works 27.2 carbon post on the road bike and the Van Nic is just as compliant.
