I'm not sure whether these have made it to the UK (French notification), but on the off-chance you have one, take it back.

All bars can break. Two incidents without details of how it happened. Maybe these are XC bars and some folk tried a 20ft dropoff with them.
Is this a notification/recall by Nitto themselves or something else.

It's a notification by the French authority for consumer safety.
Two accidents have been reported and this type/model have been found not to meet the standard in some way.
There is a voluntary withdrawl by the manufacturer.
