****s sake, will you give more notice in future? 😉

Right, my last night (ever?) in Newcastle is next Monday (21st). Assuming the hire car company leave me with the absolutely splendid Insignia I have at the moment with a proper monster of an engine in it, I'll have a car capable of fitting a bike in the boot so can make it, plus I really won't give a toss about getting into work in any decent time the next day.

Anyone up for a nice offroad blast? Big miles appreciated but anything is fine really.
Weather looks like it might be good Monday night. If you can't make it, a route would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

I'm on days Jon, if by some miracle I don't get a late call and don't get asked a thousand questions by any of my staff at the end of the day I may be able to do an evening ride.

Hey boys, (and girls)

I'm working up "int smoke" Weds Thurs and Friday so will be riding Thrunny Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday night.

Anyone up for some group rideage?

Looking forward to putting some names to faces, and Toons' stats!

Dave

Are you mountain gazelle's and race to the top or take it steady?

I live in Wylam, and have never been up there, it looks a lot more appealing than another evening at Chopwell.

Chopwell can be fun, but Thrunton is different. More natural, bigger scale, more technical, stunning views.

I like Chopwell, but I need something a bit different. Riding down the red run and back up to the top to practice is wearing thin.

I found one of the race routes, still marked out last week, which annoyed me that they yellow race tape had still been left on the trees.

I have one speed up hill, slow and steady.

Chopwell is rubbish, that's compared to BITD, when it was class.

BTW I'm from Wylam!

There is much, much more than the red run to chopwell. You've just got to know where to look. Some really nice flowing singletrack as well as a good few steep and tight DH runs. Totally disagree about the rubbish comments toons! Maybe it's not a place for an all mountain rig but it's great on a HT. Totally agree though that Thrunton is a different beast, lots of good quality singletrack up there and a couple of great DH tracks. Chopwell ain't rubbish though, it's all about what you put in and take from it. Some it is down at the moment though as the FC are in felling.

Quirrle, no races are held at Chopwell, any tape you have found is not from a race.

Interesting.

It was lined up as tape down between trees on the blue outer ring - will snap some photos

Let me know what the plans are for this weeks riding and I'm up for joining in

I'll keep a look out for it Quirrle as i'll probably be in the woods one night this week for a quick blast.

I might be up for an evening ride this week at Thrunton as well toons, what night you planning on going this week?

It was a nice run, really twisty through the trees

Go down through the main gate for the outer ring from the carpark. down the hill, take the right fork, down hill again right for should take you up a steep short hill

on the left is a drainage ditch that has a path in it, closely packed tree

In there is the route through the trees - look on the opposite side from the track and there is another bit coming down through the trees as well.

It has yellow tape which I thought was actually no entry, then realised it was between trees making a course.

I hope I'm not being lured into some weird STW dogging experience out in the wild's of Northumberland.

If see any flashing headlights I'll be running a mile.
