[Closed] New XT disc brakes - help, sticky lever!

Hi

I've just bought some XT M785 brakes from Rose. I swapped over the levers yesterday without any problems (pleased with myself, first time playing with hydraulic brakes on a bike :-)).

However, the rear brake lever is slightly 'sticky' on return travel when compared to the front lever. I've read about sticking pistons being a possible cause, but would that be a problem on new brakes?

Has anyone had similar issues?

Thanks

Rusty

I had this problem after a crash. took me a while but I eventually realised that the lever had rotated and the bottom of the lever pivot was pressing on the gear lever. When I moved it back it was fine. If you are very lucky that might be the problem.

I've had the same problem since and it wasn't related to the lever position, I put some wd40 on the pivot and worked the lever for 5 mins and it was ok then, I think I might have been a bit careless with a jet wash on that occastion. Good luck!

Thanks for the responses.

I've just fitted the brakes and they've only seen some action in the street when I've bedded in the pads. No crashes yet! ๐Ÿ™‚

So squirt some WD40 on the pivot and where the 'wave' cam is? I presume the seals won't be affected?

Cheers
