I bought the latest afddition of What Mountain Bike today and noticed they have done a light review.
They have reviewed a couple of the lights made by Exposure. In the details of the review they mention that there is a new USB cable available that can charge another device such as a GPS by using the exposure light as the battery.
So I understand that this is not a cable to charge up the light but a cable to attach from the light to charge up another device.
It is only in the WMB mag I can find reference to this new cable, I have had a look at Exposures web site but unable to find anything there.
I have a Strada and also a joystick. This sort of new cable would be of interest to me as I could give my GPS/phone whilst out on a long ride during daylight hours.
Any ideas?
Saw mention of it in some eurobike or interbike coverage, will have been either here, bikeradar or pinkbike
Not sure personally I would risk having to finish a ride in dark having had lights ran out due to it charging my computer, my experience of joysticks and diablos is that whilst great lights battery life is a bit short, charging during day like you suggest is a good idea though
Not seen the article but I have one of the new 2012 Exposure lights. The charging cable connects to the light via the charging port and terminates in a USB cable which then connects to a wall plug (similar to an iPhone/iPod/etc). The charging port is a "smart" port which either draws or outputs power depending on what is connected to it (e.g. draws power if charger is connected, or powers a rear light if that is connected). I would imagine that if you connected a USB device then the light would detect this and charge it accordingly.
This is not mentioned in the manual AFAIK but sounds like a potentially very useful feature if you are out and your phone runs out of juice!
Here it is, the Article I read, half way down details on 'boost cable' and pics of it charging a garmin

Ah, ok, looks like you will need this "boost cable" then. Can't see it for sale anywhere yet though!
