I started mountain biking in the 1990’s so the chrome look is a massive thumbs up from me:

Wonder what the tyre clearance is like? Had a smuggler which was great but you couldn’t fit more than a 2.3” tyre in it. California and UK conditions are a bit different I guess.

Ooh, thats real perty!
I had a Throttle and I seem to recall I comfortably fitted a 2.6 on the rear. Geometry wise great too…in fact everything about it was fab, except for it being too small for me.

Personally I was hoping for a Handjob, Hummer or Dirty Sanchez. Fnar fnar. <br />The Trans Am looks very nice.

Hardtail Party suggest the bike they have weighs 15kgs for a M but with pedals. This can't be right?

I know weight isn't everything but steel...

Making it a tank, not a hardtail.

I had an original Transam.
This one looks lovely but I preferred it with the seat/toptube gusset.

Anyone not surprised that a Trans AM is a bit porky? I’ve owned two and they have their own gravitational field. Pretty much bomb proof and will keep you fit!

My P7 (medium) is 14.5kg and thats with lighter components (carbon bars/crank, XT). So no surprise its 15kg given the spec. A hardcore steel HT will be over 14kg for sure.

California and UK conditions are a bit different I guess

They are, but Transition are from Bellingham, Washington not California.  It's not dry up there.

Pinkbike say clearance for 2.5" tyres and it looks reasonable in the photos.

I've had a couple of Transition full sus and they have been amazing bikes to ride.

Could tell it'd be overpriced, under-specced and chonky, a bit like Orange hardtails.

Get a Bfe instead.

Yeah my Ragley Bigwig is built tough and must be getting on for that weight too. I haven't ever weighed it but the build sheet suggests 14.3kg, which is probably on the conservative side, and that's with relatively light LB carbon rims and carbon bars too.

I like that chrome finish though, so it will be interesting to see what price the frame sells for in the UK. One of my LBS's is a Transition dealer so will need to keep an eye out.

Price is £899 apparently.

Regarding weight - my Chromag Rootdown (the first gen with QR rear end) was 34lbs with Pikes, Reverb, SLX go and stop bits, Hope wheels and Chromag finishing kit.  It wasn't an issue.

It does look lovely and very slick presentation as per usual from Transition however.... on PB and the US media it seems to be this kind of alt, unique, rare beast, wherewas here in the UK thats just the kind of bike we see every where every day from umpteen different manufacturers.

I like.  The sliding dropouts is the USP for me... I can only think of Pipedream, Kona and Santa Cruz that have similar offerings.  Are there other LT hardtails with sliders\SS capability I'm overlooking?

I like it. If I was in the market for a new hardtail it would be on my shortlist.

And regarding the weight, my large BTR Ranger is 13.6kg with Hope/ XT/ Maxxis so the Transition could be made to similar(ish) with a decent build.

Eh? 5’10” … Did you miss that I was talking about a too small Throttle, which was a M?

Looks mint, but I'd be worried about tyre clearance to the rear of the seat tube, never mind the width. Perhaps its an optical delusion.

@diggery my bad on geography, just a comment from my smuggler's rear clearance, which was the only downside on an otherwise brilliant bike. It weighed a lot but I never noticed it

It's always the case that hardtails like this end up chonky when you build them with components that are up to the type of riding the frame is.

My Kingdom Vendetta, which is pretty close geometry wise to this, is about 32.5lbs.
