Hey guys looking for a new trail bike. Pretty much ride single-track round my ends, no rock gardens! Have 29ht and really enjoy it. Sometimes hit trail centers reds. Also use it to get to work daily on a little bit of single track.

Really like the looks of:

This is pretty much the limit of my budget!

Can't find any reviews of this but can find the next model down here :

Any thoughts, alternatives, reviews would be appreciated.

I like this also but have size 11s!

Hi. Personally what i'd do is hit the web for an evening. Go on the larger online bike stores on the web. See what deals they got. There are a lot out there. You'll be surprised what you can find, For the amount your looking at spending.

I agree with mb51. The escarpe is a good bike, I almost bought the 27.5 version until they hiked the prices up at the start of the year, it was no longer best bang for my buck and brought so many other brands into play.

I'd get a short travel 29er for your sort of riding, so yeah Jeffsy is right up there

That stumpy is a 3.6k bike, better value than a jeffsy as long as the size is right

I've just ordered a Jeffsy after a million years* trying to get whether there's a better value bike in its class. I haven't received it yet, but I would really say you should have a look.

Or something mail order from Canyon or Rose Bikes?
I had one of these a few years ago, lovely bike

With Rose you can spec the bike up to whatever you want within your budget. Delivery is "normally" 2-3 weeks.

Those rose bikes have pretty long seat tubes/ and short reach, they just wouldn't fit me at all.

What are you doing with the 29HT ???

One line of logic say's get a more capable (130-140mm) trail bike keeping your current HT and do more reds... ?

they just wouldn't fit me at all

I'd try some .. either demo or hire on similar trails to what you usually ride...
I've tried quite a few bikes just didn't feel right for me... (short legs) but when I've tried some it's an instant match.

Both my bikes are 27.5 which means I can switch wheels over... which can make for less faff and I sometimes swap wheels depending on riding conditions.

Just noticed 2016 jeffsys are available in their outlet store - only in small and medium though, but in stock.
I'd be very tempted if that was the right size for me
Carbon Jeffsy, sram x1, Pike RCT3s -£2500!

I’ve recently got steel HT, I often wondered what all the ‘steel is real’ hype was about and I’ve gotta say, I totally get it now.

One of the most comfortable yet playful bikes I’ve been on, although don’t ask me how, it’s a hard tail after all (used to riding full sus) and not only that, it’s not the lightest of things either! but once you get your head round that and just ride it, it’s a different ball game altogether. Ramps up the climbs and thunders down the decents, basically you finish your ride wanting to go for it all over again, brings back the life into riding again, I just wish I’d bought mine sooner.
