Without any slanging matches, I don't want to use any of my local big bike shops and would prefer a local LBS, what experiences have any of you had with Harry Halls in Manchester?
Thanks

David the mechanic in Evans- dont care about the snob-bit but thumbs up for his competent workmanship.

Norther Quarter- Theres a lovely up and coming small indie- give them a whirl.

TBH though, I dont rate any others (IN) the centre.

I've been going in there occasionally for years, I've bought one or two things there. I've never found any of the staff friendly - nobody's ever said hello or anything.

I suppose it depends what you're used to and whether you're bothered about that kind of thing,my LBS is very friendly and it makes me want to buy things there.

Don't know how much MTB stuff that NQ place. I saw it one night while on the beer, before it had properly opened. I went in to say hello and the guy offered me a like new spangly sram cassette with the red lockring for £20. Unfortunately I had no cash and forgot to go back. Damn.

Generally, HH gets a slagging for poor customer service from pierced BMX kids. They seem to have improved recently, but I never buy more than odds and sods from them.

They have caught onto the road SS/fixie thing in a big way, and so there's lots of stuff in there (NJS kit, and all that). Not a massive choice of bikes - mainly Trek and Spesh, and not a great pile of interesting kit.

No idea what the workshop is like.

They are, however, within sight of my office, which makes those little purchases a quick activity and I need not worry about poor customer service.

Harry's staff have been fairly friendly to me, but I think maybe because I've been in there with my Hope-encrusted Inbred and my orange Bob Jackson track frame and they sparked comments from the staff. I certainly wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

WA*&*%RS!

My new to MTB mate bought a rockhopper - I was with him, customer service was awful - told him to try another shop but he had his heart set on this last years model, good deal bike.

He took it back for its free service - dropped it off, went back couple of hours later -picked it up.........brake levers still pulling all the way to the bar and gears slipping....AVOID!!!
