New Reverb needs a ...
 

[Closed] New Reverb needs a bleed from the box. Any hints? Tips?

I've watched the bleed video but I'm still wary.

Not that happy about it not working straight off to be honest but oh well I knew the risk.

It's the new black collar one but there are two videos one for push fit and one for barbed thread, anyway of know which mine is?

The 2012 will be the barbed fit as its the new improved connections. Also you always need to bleed new brakes and this system is no different, just bleed and go ride. They are the muts nuts!!

I've never had to bleed brakes from new even when Ive shortened them.

I'll give it a go tomorrow morning and hopefully it will be ok, doesn't pop back up at all at the minute.

No worries, alot of them needed bleeding from new but mine didn't but I had to shorten the hose which I would have thought you would need to do as its a bit over kill the amount you get. Still they are great posts, but get some one to help as the extra pair of hands speeds things up and makes it a lot easier to do. Enjoy

I was thinking that whilst watching the video. Pulling and pushing lol

Did you shorten and bleed? Im trying to work out how much cable I need now.

Just a quickie the SRAM video says have the remote on the slowest setting to bleed but the opinion on pinkbike says full fast gives a better bleed.

What do you guys have the remote sent on when shortening/bleeding?

Before you bleed it, make sure your seat clamp is not to tight. It can prevent the post from popping back up.

Does anyone know why mine can be pulled up by hand when it's in the dropped position? It works fine but I noticed today that I can pull it up and it slides back down. It's about a month old and didn't do this before ????

Because of the IFP, and the IFP will allow you to do this and not leave you with a post stuck in the extended position.. I'm guessing today was the first time you tried to pull it up in the dropped position?

Follow these and you can't go wrong, mines a perfect length and working perfectly!

What's the IFP?
It never lifted before and I'm sure I seen a SRAM video stating it stays down so you can lift the bike without it coming back up

2 bleeds and no better. Still doesn't come all the way up and it's still really slow.

I must be doing something wrong.

What's the IFP?

[b]I[/b]nternal [b]F[/b]loating [b]P[/b]iston. Separates oil from the air spring and allows you to do this without making the post soft.

Obviously not a great idea to keep doing it but you can pull it up when it's compressed.

They are, but then Sram have never been great at bleeding ๐Ÿ˜‰ Mine came bled well enough for use straight away but unless you want to be running a long hose then you'll have to cut it down.

Well I'm gonna beg a mate to have a go at bleeding it but there didn't seem to be any air left.

I need to check the pressure too.

Arrived from HiBikes in Germany today, 3 working days from ordering.. Perfect out of the box, no bleed or cable shortening needed. Can't wait to try it on my night ride tomorrow ๐Ÿ˜€

Don't buy one until they get them sorted.

It's introducing a complication into one of the simplest parts of a bike in order to compensate for poor bike design...ie bikes made far too long so that they are dangerous when pointed downhill unless you drop the post..... so just buy a bike that is the correct size and design that lets you descend a steep hill without having to first stop and fart about reducing the seatpost length

So just don't bother.

Mr RS, the fellow aproned new masonic buddy buddy says, "I work for a struggling company who specialise in dropper seatposts for bicycles but we're not doing very well because everyone is designing bikes of the correct size for riders not to need these products".
Mr B (a bike designer) says, "Right, well in the interests of free masonry and the mutually required scrathcing of each others' masonic backs, I'll design bicycles that are far too long and then you can sell a few more of your useless products with extremely sketchy reliability".
Fellow Aproned Masonic Buddy Buddy, "Thanks you're a......masonic buddy"

And they were all happy masonic buddies for ever and ever.

And even the bike riders benefited because they had something else to buy that would let them down in fairly short order, just like chain sucking frames, and they could all moan and secretly hope for something better, which in itself would give them hope for a better future, and thus everyone was much the better for it.

Rhys , put some air in through the base valve,that'll cure the free lift syndrome, it shouldn't lift on it's own , that could be dangerous.

So we should all be riding really tall but short bikes downhill? Because thqat will really do wonders for keeping the COG behind the front wheel when things get steep wont it?

My Pitch is a size too small for 'XC' and therefore by your argument, perfectly sized for me. Yet I still prefer it with the seat down when goign downhill.

I (allong with everyone else who drops their saddle) must be doing something wrong.

on't buy one until they get them sorted.

My original Reverb's been fine since day 1.

The post-droppers need to take the anti-droppers out for a bike ride.

Things have moved on since the 90's in terms of what we ride.

(Ambulance will be waiting at the bottom of the trail)
