Taking my better half somewhere this weekend and was thinking of Kielder. Does anyone know if the new blue grade singletrack route is open yet?
If not has anyone compared Kielder red route(s) to the Glentress blue as that is the most she has done so far? (I actually thought Glentress blue was great fun!)

I think the new blue is opening in July.
The new red has hardly any technical bits. It's rougher than GT blue, has the odd steep bit and is quite narrow in places. It's also got a hideous boardwalk bit at the top which hopefully will blend in eventually!

I assume they're still working on it a bit and I guess it's partly red because it goes up a bit.
The old red, likewise is rougher and has more technical bits included but nothing horrible or that can't be bypassed. Again it's got some climbing which makes it tougher.
I thought the Glentress blue was good till I did the red. Can't imagine anything could be better than the Spookey Woods downhill bit.
Kielder red is next on the list.
I've read elsewhere that the red trail was opened as the priority but that it's still far from finished, and that extra features and different lines etc are to be added later. Odd policy that if it's true but it'd explain the feedback the place is getting.

Spooky Wood is an overrated BMX track. Much prefer deliverance. 😮
