Looks better than I thought! Back end looks a slightly darker orange... Hope you didn't pay cash.

That'd be the combination of dull natural light and the poor quality phone camera used to take the shot.

It is crying out for white forks but sadly not available to me in tapered steerer. Will be boring black. Still thinking on those white rims though...

I love Santacruz frames so i'm green with envy!!

I'll buy one someday and fit Chris King hubbed wheels and lots of other uber expensive components.

This frame looks a bit short, rather than tall (short crossbar)

Is it a small?

No that is a Large frame - 24" TT.

Again I would blame that on the photography.

The 'tall' comment was my attempt at a joke as it is a Santa Cruz Tallboy frame - 29er for the unitiated.

It is a short stroke shock. I think that is to do with the geometry of the bike and fitting 100 mm of travel with 29" wheels and short seatstays (for a 29er).

Can't you get a pair of the Fox 29ers with the tapered steerer - are they USA only at the mo?

Got Reba 29ers with tapered steerer on order.

The Fox tapered steerer forks are only OEM I believe and they are black as well!

Can we have a report on how it rides when you've got it built up please.

I've been considering one of these but I'd like a go on one before I make my mind up about it.

Looks great in the orange colour though.

I believe Jungle will have a demo bike which will be travelling the country to the British XC series - might end up near you?

British XC

Failing that you might be able to get a demo sent from Jungle to your local dealer. I might be wrong on that now but you certainly used to be able to do that kind of thing.

I know. 😉 😆

And said dealer has been quite keen to try to sell me one for quite a while now.

HANG ON HERE! WAIT A GODDAM MINUTE!

Can we get some 29er haters in this thread? I'm not happy with the progress of this rational and objective discussion.

TooTall.

I think the thread title's a bit to subtle for the usual suspects to pick it up. 😉

daveh's photo is from the Santa Cruz press release a while back. Unless he liked the build in the photo so much that he built an exact replica and went to California to take a photo in the same spot....

The 'problem' with forks is that 1 1/8" to 1.5" taper forks are a bit thin on the ground. You don't seem to be able to buy them aftermarket so you can only get the OEM ones, both of which, RS and Fox, are black. Not complaining as such but a white fork would be *perfect*!

Considering making up for that by getting some white Stans rims but concerned they will just look gash.

Just strip the fork and get the lowers painted.

I've considered that but it is a bit OCD. Still might do it though. White with orange and black detailing might look good!

Might be worth doing though as it is seriously crying out for white lowers. Good company within 15 miles of me so might get it done. Will be a while before the forks arrive anyway so I'm not in a rush to build

Is the black part of the "decal" actually transparent in the same way that the Ibis logo is?

After paying that much for a frame it'd be worth going to the minor trouble of doing though.

As for white rims. Go for it.
