If I replace one do I have to replace them all or will it all go round ok if I just get a new chainring?

Thanks all.

Depends how worn.

Chainring is normally longer lasting than the cassette and chain are. Have you changed the cassette or chain previosuly? I'd try a new chain, then see if anything else skips and replace as required.

Hmm, maybe I should have said, I definately need new chainrings. There are quite a few teeth missing now so I was thinking about going with a single ring up front. The cassette and chain are newer than the chain rings as I replaced them at the same time. Cassette looks alright though, cant tell about the chain though.

Try it, if the chain's not too old it may be OK.

"Missing teeth" were probably never there - to aid shifting.

Nah missing teeth I'm pretty sure have broken off. Especially on the big ring.

you won't be able to tell how worn the cassette is unless you have a new one there to compare or you actually know what you are looking for.

The profile of the front chain rings and the teeth on them, might give the impression of some damaged or missing teeth...however, it is supposed to look like this. Trust me, I can't remember ever removing teeth from a chain ring and I hours 2 - 3 hours on my bike 3 or 4 times a week.

Buy a chain and try it, if it skips buy a cassette, if you still have problems then change the chain rings, middle one first. Then invest in a chain wear indicator ๐Ÿ˜‰
