[Closed] New chain constantly dropping off big ring

What's the most likely cause?

2x10 SRAM setup. Rings and old chain were original and I changed after about 1100 miles, as soon as it stretched to 0.7 on the Park chain measurement tool.

Initially I thought the chain was too long but I've removed a full link and if anything symptoms are worse.

front mech alignment?
Which way is it dropping off?

You've changed the rings at the same time?

If not, change the rings, or just stick the old chain back on. It will likely run on for 1000s more miles as will the cassette and rings so long as you match worn with worn (and 0.7 is barely worn).

If rings are new... then it's something else. Did it start dropping by changing the chain or has it run for a while and then started dropping?

Off lower, onto the small ring. Have had a play with mech micro adjust and it hasn't solved anything. In any case, it worked fine before with the old chain so I wasn't suspecting much.

Nope haven't changed the rings. Was trying to change early (ie 0.7) to prolong their life!
And it was the first ride after the new chain where it started dropping; with no other adjustments.

Yep, new with old. Won't mix.

Park Tool say change at 0.5 now. All that does is waste money binning perfectly good chains and makes profit for Park Tools in chain checkers nobody needs (in my opinion ๐Ÿ˜‰ )

I've experimented with both methods - replace early, and let it all run on to death. I get more life out of my components with the latter. Replace early is misleading because you get convinced you're still getting life out of the cassette/rings when the new chain works. Work out when you actually change the lot, then do the run it all to death. It's the same change point for the lot, if not longer, but you've saved buying a few chains in the process. In my experience. YMMV

Anyway, now you've changed the chain, you'll need new chainrings probably. Or put the old chain back on.

Just guessing, but did you reduce the length of the new chain, at all, before you "removed a full link"?
How many links are in the new chain?
Does this match the number of links in the old chain?
