I had my inauguration to big wheels last October when I built up a Chumba HX2 with old drive train and new wheels / forks and it got me hooked.

I fancied something a bit lighter with a spangly new drive train, after looking into a few frames within my smallish budget and size requirements, I settled on a Kinesis FF29 frame with a full 2012 XT 2x10 drive train.

Got all the parts on Wednesday and built it up last night & tonight, rest of the build is Crests on Pro II Evo's, Reba RL's, Thomson Stem & Post, Sunline V1 Flats, Charge grips & a RSP Saddle.

The bike comes in very light, definitely the lightest MTB I've ever had - not weighed it, but the pick up test by me and a couple of mates would suggest something around 23lbs 😀

Had it's inaugural ride this evening round the local forest in slop, mud & rain and first impressions are fantastic, light, nimble, climbs well & comfy. Also loads of mud clearance - even to the rear mech!!

Cant wait to get it out at the weekend now.

That's a great looking bike! I really like the green one as well.

Those bars are proper wide too, extra tree avoiding fun

Nice. Shame that the grips match the sofas better than they do the decals and saddle detail 🙂

It's about as close as I could get, they're better in real life.

Bars were 762mm, but I cut them down to 736mm 🙂

Timc - if you add it all up at what I paid for it, £1350 approx

Nice bike and valve alignment is well executed 8)

However, your chain could do with shortening and those grips need swapping immediately.

Patio moss could do with some attention.

Nice bike mister!

Mcboo - they are indeed genuine leather in electric blue with chromed legs 8)

New grips have been sorted, I did wonder about the chain, may whip another link out when I service/clean/strip it after the mudfest that was mayhem.

Granted the pation is a mess, but it's getting ripped up at some point.

First real ride at mayhem and I can report it goes rather well, only needed to clear the rear triangle out twice a lap and it handles very well in slop/porridge
