I've just sold my Heckler, 'cos it was a little bit big for me and I actually find most of the riding I do more fun on a hardtail. I do fancy another full sus though, but something a bit beefier for trips to the Alps and possibly some UK uplift days. I don't think I want to go with a full on DH bike 'cos I think it might be a bit overkill, thought the idea of buying a cheap Stinky, taking it to Morzine then selling it is quite tempting. Otherwise I'm looking at something that's a bit pedalable but much more down oriented than the Heckler - I'm thinking SX Trail of Giant Reign are options, any other suggestions? Second hand, couple of years old is fine, maybe around £500 or less for the frame.

There was a lovely looking Patriot for sale on this thread.

Nothing to do with me, by the way.

I did think about both Patriots and Bullits, but I also quite fancy trying something with a four bar or similar set up, just to see what all the fuss is about. Commencal can definitely go on the list - Neil, tell me more about your Ransom (though I wasn't really planning on buying just yet).

I have recently got a new bike so i have the frame and headset (hope) left over. Its 2 1/2 years old, had the shock serviced in the summer and the bearings changed two months ago. Its been well used but looked after. Its served me really well.

What size? And how much? Sounds like a nice frame...

It is a nice frame, i just fancied something lighter with a bit less travel (basically i just wanted a new bike 🙂 )

Its a medium (18") which is meant for 5ft 8 to 6ft. haven't advertised it yet but was thinking of £500 inc the headset and the XTR front mech thats on it. Although the mech will need the cable pinch bolt helicoiling i think as the thread is dodgy.
