Lovely to see my new bike on the front page of the site! Thought I might offer some more explanation and pics. Although can't really beat the pics on the front page.
This is my first ever custom bike. I wanted something that could do trails, winter riding, gravelly type rides and do everything really. I have a full suss and sold a CX / gravel bike but still have a disc braked road bike that will take 35s. I'd built a SS hack bike this winter and loved it and wanted some of that but with a few other finishes - minus the PF30 EBB.
I wanted a 29er that would take 2.4 tyres, work as a single speed in the winter and 1x11 in the summer. It would be able to take a 27.2 post but also a wider diameter dropper if needed if I did want to use one in the future. It would have three bottle mounts and also be able to work with a rigid or suspension fork. Had such specific requirements and all were met. The rear is built around boost spacing and chain tension dealt with by Paragon dropouts with a 12mm thru axle.
The brief was based on my love of early 90s MTBs that I could never afford at the time: Kona (Joe Murray era) with skinny tubes, dropped top tube and clean lines. Alpinestars, Klein, Zinn, GT and lots of other bikes of the time. It was a brief based on style - thin tubes etc but also the wacky paint jobs and so on. I described a few of these and other influences in a Pinterest board. Some nice little trips down memory lane if you fancy it.
The paint is based on a Remi Rough painting as well as my love of angles and the 90s colour schemes. Paint was designed by Adeline and developed with Colorburn Studio in Bristol.
Build is of all the kit I’ve grown to love and trust over the years. Hope B.B., headset, hubs etc. Thomson carbon bars, stem and post. Fabric saddle. XT groupset. Maxxis ardent tyres which are also a throw back to the Onza tyres I longed for when younger.
Have only done the quick car park test so far but feels amazing. Fit was based around a 3D jig fit by Ben Hallam at Primo Cycles in Cambridge.

Just gorgeous. Looks great but the ideas that Adeline has incorporated for you - just fantastic. Seriously jealous right now!
Enjoy every minute riding that!
That's bloody lush. I'd have had black tyres but otherwise love your brief and the resulting bike, including paint job and spec. Top notch.
Am I / are we able to ask ballpark price?
Nice that 😁
That looks fantastic.
But you can only ride it on a Wednesday, non?
Stunning bike. Enjoy!
*sex wee* (again)
That's a lovely thing, enjoy!
Sure, frame was around £1500-1600 + paint. It's incredible value when you see how much work goes into it.
Wow.
Best looking bike on here for years, looks amazing fun.
Ta for sharing.
But you can only ride it on a Wednesday, non?
true, but after he's done his bi-weekly downhill on his Iron Horse and his YT, he'll be too tired for more than one day of XC a week. Plus he commutes on the folder on the last day of the work week.
*sex wee* (again)
High praise from you sir (again).
That is ace.
Gis a go of your bike....
I must say, though, I was surprised not to find Jo's Zinn on your mood board 🙂
Lovely. How about some of the retro Rockshox graphics that Slik do?
It is a lovely thing. Would have!
That looks timeless, I love it.
I also agree that you need to change the fork decals to match the paint.
It would be able to take a 27.2 post but also a wider diameter dropper if needed if I did want to use one in the future.
What ST diameter did you go for, 30.9? To that end, did you go for a ST port for a stealth dropper?
I think it's 30.9. No internal port and all runs under top tube. Clips take two cables but will be swapped out for three cables as and when.

Whilst my references are retro I'm wanting to keep it thoroughly modern. Weird I guess but have spent a long time thinking about it all.
The only - ONLY - problem I can see with that is you'll be scared to fall off it and damage the paintwork. Absolutely lush.
That is very pretty indeed, I'd be scared to ride it I think!
It's getting protected with Invisiframe today at Cloud 9 cycles in London. Suspect will get chipped and scuffed with bike packing bags on still but it's for using.
Thanks for all the lovely feedback on it.
Gorgeous bike, lucky enough to see it in the flesh (metal?) at the weekend.
Awesome, I sent the wife a picture of it earlier with “Dear Santa.........”
Y'know, you see a lot of bikes that look well made, and a lot of bikes with nice paint jobs... but it's pretty rare to see one with fantastic paint (design, colours, textures) AND a really beautifully made frame (chainstays, welds, headtube, proportions... and the rest).
Lovely.
I saw this in the metal & agree it's lovely. Mind, so is the frame-maker. Gorgeous.
That's both beautiful and functional. Enjoy the hell out of that bike, I say! Mercredi bikes just look 'right', don't they?
Perfect.
That is absolutely lovely.
Hmmm sorry but going against the grain here.... Looks alright but nothing special. Functional yes and with a paint job from smiggle 🙂 but hey it's your bike and you love it so that's all that matters! Enjoy.
Aaaaaand normal service is resumed 🙂

No worries. What I love is that it's entirely custom and makes me happy as such it would be weird if everyone else liked it.
