Just bought a blackspire bash guard that came with long bolts but they are too long. Truvativ fire X chainset, any ideas?

Are the bolt housing thingies with the longer bolts longer? I managed to get a truvativ bashguard on by mixing and matching shorter bolts with longer housings, and vice versa. If that makes any sense.
By housings I mean the bits that the bolts screw into - not sure what they are called.

Bash only come with longer bolts, not longer housing. Thank I might have to file them down.
